Chez Bruce: wonderful wines, wonderful food

it took a review in More Intelligent Life to learn that once I drank wine costing £198 a glass! Actually, I knew when I drank it that it was awfully fine but was too polite to question the cost and didn’t dare afterward. Was it worth it? Well, yes and no…I’m a burgundy-kinda-guy myself so prefer La Tâche but The Lafite was equisitely memorable. If I was extraordinarily wealthy, would I buy such wines? I hope not, but perhaps – sometimes – and then feel exquisitely guilty afterwards!…to the review…

“Chez Bruce in Wandsworth, consistently voted one of the capital’s outstanding eateries. SW17 may be the boondocks to some people, but it’s worth a special journey just to eat Bruce Poole’s wonderful food. Chez Bruce’s wine selection isn’t as famous as its eclectic, modern-European menu, but it deserves to be. Since it opened in 1995, the restaurant has employed three masterly (if very different) sommeliers. The latest is Katie Exton: one of the leading female sommeliers in Britain, with a winning combination of knowledge and easy-going charm….”

About Dawn Montgomery

Dawn Montgomery doesn't believe in boxes. In 2009 she gained access to the hidden job market by connecting with commuters on the GO train, receiving coverage from The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star and Hamilton Spectator, plus interviews with Canada AM, CHML 900 and That Channel; however, this was not the first example of her "box?...what box?" thinking. On arrival as an immigrant to Canada the anticipated job and accommodation were no longer available, so she sourced another opportunity and, seven days later, with suitcase of heels and coordinating bags, drove 1804k to the logging and mining community of Ear Falls (pop. 1500) Ontario; it was January, the journey took five days, she stayed two years...the path less travelled is a familiar one!
